6 Steps to Writing Your Own Ebook
Thanks to the internet and continuing advances in technology, it now easier than ever to write and publish your own ebook. Ebooks are becoming increasing popular because writers no longer have to worry with inventory, postage and manually mailing each purchased copy. Consumers enjoy hassle free purchasing and instant delivery. This makes it a win-win for writers and consumers. Ebooks, unlike paper or hardback books generally consists of 50 to 100 pages and get straight to the heart of the matter. Today we see ebooks on everything from dog grooming to managing finances. If you are knowledgeable in a particular area, you too can create and sell ebooks.
There are four basic things you need in order to write and publish an ebook:
- A topic that others will be interested in
- The motivation to get your book written
- A program to convert your word document to pdf format
- A simple web site with a sales letter describing your ebook
- Here are the steps to writing your first ebook.
Step 1 - Identify your subject matter. Do you have a certain area of expertise or experience that holds value to you and to others? The topic could be anything from how to make paper airplanes to building a computer from scratch.
Step 2 - Research to find out what people want to know. What information are they seeking, how are other writers presenting this information and how can you present it differently to make your ebook worth purchasing?
Step 3 - Start writing. Once you have gathered your information, it is time to begin writing your book. The pages should be written in an easy to understand manner and include important information about your chosen topic.
Step 4 - When your pages are complete, you must compile them into an ebook. There are several options available and some ebook generators are free provided you include a link to the software in your ebook. A quick search online will tell you what your options are.
Step 5 - You will need to use a copy-protection program to prevent others from giving your ebook away to their friends and associates for free. You can purchase this software or pay someone else to do it for you, but you do not want to neglect this step. You have written your ebook with the intention of selling it to others, not selling it to one person who then gives it away free to several people.
Step 6 - Before you can promote your ebook, you need to make sure you have provided many ways for your customers to pay you. Determine how you plan to accept payments and have them in place before you begin promoting your book.
The ebook market is wide open to anyone who has the desire. You can get an ebook published in very little time and begin reaping the rewards.
