Format Text for Online Content

When writing for the internet, it’s important to format your text to a specific number of characters per line to ensure easy readability. In addition, many publishers of articles, ezines, autoresponders, etc require content to be formatted to 60-65 characters per line.

If you’ve ever tried to read an article or email where the lines of content are chopped up, perhaps one line has ten words and the next has two, you know how hard it is to read. This problem is typically caused by poor formatting.

While you can certainly count each character and manually put a hard carriage return at the end of each line, why waste all that time? This handy little tool will make formatting your content quick and simple.

To format or reformat your text:

1)  Enter the number of characters per line you want

2)  If your text has been previously formatted and needs to be reformatted, enter Y to reformat your text. Otherwise, enter N.

3)  If your text has been previously formatted AND has extra spaces between some of the words, enter Y to remove the extra spaces. Otherwise, enter N.

4)  Paste or type content into the text area.

5)  Click the Format Text button.

Your formatted text should now be displayed beneath the text area. Simply copy and paste your newly formatted text into whatever you’re working with.

IMPORTANT! If your content contains lists/bullets, you will need to format these by hand once the above formatting process is complete.
